Alice Jancik Roberts, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, on February 15, 2023, after battling leukemia since 2020, including a courageous donor cell transplant from one of her grandchildren, at Johns Hopkins, in 2021, which gave her almost two more wonderful years.  She was born on April 24, 1943, in Boonton, New Jersey, to William and Adele (Pepich) Jancik, but lived most of her life in Pennsylvania, to include Mountaintop and Kingston.  Alice had a long career at the VA Medical Center, Plains Township, Pa.  In her younger years, she played softball with the "Powder Puffs," and bowled and danced the night away at the San Souci Parkway.  She loved traveling and visiting Point Pleasant, NJ, Hawaii, Mexico, and many countries in Europe, as well as the Caribbean.  She often went on cruises with her family and especially with her friend, Louise, as well as visiting her friends, Razz and Sharon.  She could always be found outside gardening for hours during the summer.   She was also well known for her love of Wyoming Valley pizza, and had a goal of trying every pizza in the valley with her best friend, Rosie Smith.  She often volunteered at many different events in the area.  Her guilty pleasure was watching reality and mystery shows and playing poker in Mountaintop.  She attended as many of her grandchildren's events as possible.  She was married to Hugh G. Roberts of Sugar Notch, Pa. on October 3, 1964, for 58 years.  She was an absolutely wonderful mother to her two children, Glenn (Syracuse, NY), and Gregg (Whitehall, Pa. married to Rosanne).  Alice was the most fun-loving and awesome "Nana" to her grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob (Glenn's children), and Nathan and Nicholas (Gregg's children), with her life lessons and "Nana-isms."  She is survived by her sisters, Jane Stevens, Adele Kaschenbach, Linda, Susan and Lori, and her brothers, Joe and Jim.  Her daughter-in-law, Laura Krombel Roberts, and her brother, William Jancik, both recently passed away.
