Alvin Gary "Rusty" Benscoter born July 30, 1950 in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Jacob R Sr. and Iris L. Lamoreaux Benscoter, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 11, 2022.

Rusty was a 1968 graduate of Northwest Area High School. Growing up there was always a piano in the house, which his mother played. That led to his lifelong love of music. He was a member of the High School Band, playing the saxophone, which he continued to play as a member of the US Coast Guard Band while stationed on Governors Island NY. He was our music man on his guitar, the man who remembered every joke he ever heard. Put an instrument in front of him, he played it, whether Sax, piano, guitar, or drums.

Rusty worked for a variety of construction companies in and around Pennsylvania as a carpenter and construction worker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother David W. Benscoter.

Rusty is survived by his son Christopher Benscoter, and his companion, Ellen McNeill of Sweet Valley, siblings, Jacob "Ricky" Benscoter, Jr, and wife Vicki Seward Benscoter of Hunlock Creek, Sharon E. Benscoter Evancavich of Dallas, Julie A. Bonham of Texas, Randall "Peabody" Benscoter, of Benton. Nieces and Nephews, Josh Benscoter of New Jersey, Jacob Benscoter III of Illinois, Jason Macialek and wife Stefanie of New York, Jesse Macialek of Falls, Laura, Robin and Kelsey Bonham all of Benton, and Josie Marino and husband Eric of Jim Thorpe and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, graveside services will be planned at later date in the Bloomingdale Cemetery to be followed by a Celebration of Life.
