Barbara Lee Cavanaugh, 71 of Laflin, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on April 28th, 1951 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jean Slomovitz. Barbara was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Kingston. She retired from Verizon, formerly Bell Telephone. After retirement she worked for Macy's department in the Wyoming Valley Mall location as a manager in the women's department, then jewelry department and then the men's department. If you shopped at Macy's you always saw Barb there. She loved helping customers pick out clothing and suits and she had a great sense of style. She worked very hard in the retail store. She will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones, including her Macy's family. She will be reunited in heaven with many of her loved ones including her little dog Chivers, a Boston Terrier, whom she adored.
Surviving her are her husband, Tom Cavanaugh, her devoted son Anthony Cavanaugh, Laflin; brother, Robert Slomovitz, Pittston; stepdaughters, Susan Cavanaugh, Hazleton; Cheryl Musto, Wilkes-Barre; beloved niece, Jacqueline Ruane, Jenkins Twp; goddaughter, Jordyn Ruane and nephew Patch Ruane, Jenkins Twp; Cousin, Gloria Kutz, Plains;
grandchildren TJ, Lindsay, Kylie, and her youngest granddaughter Ava Cavanaugh, who was her upmost pride and joy.
The family wishes to thank the 6th floor nurses and staff of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their great care of Barbara.
A viewing service will be held for Barbara and friends and family may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 3rd, at the funeral home. Arrangements by the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main Street, Plains.
