Benjamin Peter Dragan, a Heartfelt Craftsman and Community Pillar

On April 7th, 2024, Benjamin Peter Dragan, a cherished husband, stepfather, brother, and friend, passed away in his home in West Pittston, surrounded by the love of family and the memories he so generously shared. Born on April 29, 1942, in the tight-knit community of Larksville, Ben was a man whose life was as rich and varied as the wood grains he lovingly shaped throughout his career as a carpenter.

The son of the late Benjamin and Genevieve Dragan, Ben's early life in the Kingston laid the foundation for his robust work ethic and commitment to family and community. His years at Kingston Area School, followed by West Side Vocational Technical School, were not just about academics; they were the forging ground for a skilled craftsman. Ben's hands, always either gently shaping wood or firmly gripping a tool, became his tools of expression, leaving a legacy of his craftsmanship in numerous homes and hearts.

Benjamin's career in construction was marked by integrity and dedication. His transition to a position at King's College was more than a professional shift; it was where fate conspired to introduce him to Lucille Deletconich (Thomas) Dragan, his life's greatest love. Their 40-year marriage was a testament to devotion, filled with shared joys, mutual respect, and an unbreakable bond.

A longstanding member and secretary of the Hawk, Rod & Gun Club, Benjamin found joy and camaraderie in the great outdoors. His 50 years with the club weren't just about sport; they were about the sharing of stories and laughter under the open sky.

Benjamin's faith was as steadfast as his work. A devoted member of St. John's Orthodox Church, he served his church community not only with his prayers, but serving on Council as secretary and as a member, and with hands ready to build, repair, and maintain. His work, from crafting cabinets to painting walls, was a silent sermon of his belief in service and community.

Predeceased by his parents and stepson Scott Christopher Thomas, Benjamin's legacy lives on through his beloved wife Lucille, his stepson David and wife Kerry Beth, his sister Janice, brother-in-law Bill Deletconich, and a community that will always remember his kind heart and skilled hands.

A Funeral Service in Ben's honor will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 10 am at St John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 93 Zerby Ave, Edwardsville, 18704. All services on Thursday will be held in St John the Baptist Church with viewing 30 minutes prior to service. Friends and family are also invited to pay their respects at Yeosock Funeral Home, Plains, on Wednesday, April 10th, from 3 to 6 pm, with Parastas prayer service opening the viewing. Ben will be interred at Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
