Carl I. Schwink Sr. of West Pittston passed away on January 9, 2025. Born in Connecticut on April 10, 1938, to Ernest E. and Margaret Bundock Schwink, Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert E. of Florida, and his infant daughter Suzy Schwink, who passed away from SIDS.

Carl is survived by his children: Carl Jr. and his girlfriend Joyce Williams of West Pittston; Evelyn Schwink Ciaston and her fiancé Joel Pearce of Avoca; and Ernest R. Schwink and his wife Deborah Mayer-Schwink of Falls. Carl was blessed with a large family, including his four children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Carl Schwink III and his family, Brian Schwink, Sean Granahan and his family, and Matt Ciaston.

Carl left an undeniable impression on everyone he met. He graduated from Yale University with an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1957 to 1963.

Professionally, Carl had a diverse and accomplished career. He was last employed by CVS in various roles across the region, retiring for the first time in 1993, only to return to work out of boredom. Carl spent half his life self-employed, owning and operating several small businesses. The other half of his career included serving as vice president of Purolator Armored Division, working in the family dairy business, and being a member of the Connecticut State Police.

A viewing service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Yeosock Funeral Home, located at 40 S. Main Street, Plains, PA.
