Deborah Ann Janus-Mitchell, 68, of Ashley, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her loving husband, stepchildren , and step-granddaughter.
Born May 7, 1958, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1975. Debbie worked at Rymers Auto and Benco Dental. She was the owner of Deb’s Dangles and loved selling her jewelry at local craft fairs and markets.
Debbie loved spending time with her family and her beloved furbaby, Denali. She shared 45 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Gary Mitchell, building a life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.
She had a generous heart and enjoyed helping others, supporting the SPCA and Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank. Known for her infectious sense of humor, Debbie was truly the life of the party, always ready with a joke and a way to make those around her smile.
In addition to her loving husband, Gary Mitchell, Debbie is survived by her stepchildren, Cassandra Tregan and Christopher Mitchell; step-granddaughter, Bailey Tregan; brother, David Janus and wife Theresa; nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved furbaby, Denali.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Janus Sr. and Margaret Janus; her father’s companion, Therese Androckitis; paternal grandparents, Francine and John Janus; and maternal grandparents, Francis Kwiatkowski and John Revalski.
Debbie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter, kindness, generosity, and unforgettable sense of humor will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Ss Peter and Paul Parish, 13 Hudson Rd, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S Main St Plains 18705, with viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm.. All services on Friday are in the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank in Debbie’s memory.
