Eleanor Elaine Petro Hallas, age 90, of Madison, Indiana formerly of Plains, Pennsylvania entered this life on July 7, 1935 in Exeter, Pennsylvania. She was the loving daughter of the late George and Anna Jackloski Petro. She was raised in Plains, Pennsylvania and graduated high school there. On July 7, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart, John Hallas, Jr. in Plains, Pennsylvania. This happy union of 66 years was blessed with a son, Michael, Sr. and a daughter, Susan Ann. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She worked as a seamstress with the International Garment Workers Union, retiring after 40 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Plains, Pennsylvania. Eleanor's talents included embroidery and doing needlepoint, cooking and canning, working in her garden, taking pride in caring for her yard, and loved decorating for the holidays. Eleanor died on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 9:39 a.m. at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital Emergency Room in Madison, Indiana.
Eleanor will be missed by her loving son, Michael John Hallas, Sr. and his wife, Gerrie of Lexington, Indiana; her grandchildren, John, Michael Jr., (Jennifer), Jessica (Joe), Blair, Jason, and Samantha; her sister, Elizabeth White of Florida; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, George Petro, died November 22, 1955, her mother, Anna Jackloski Petro, died March 23, 1976, her beloved husband of 66 years, John Hallas, Jr., died September 2, 2022, her brothers, Thomas and Edward Petro, and her loving daughter, Susan Ann Hallas, died in November 2023.
A Requiem Service will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11 am, from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S Main St, Plains 18705, with Rev. Thomas Petro presiding. Friends and family are invited to a viewing service Monday morning from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment immediately following in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains.
