Eleanor Sovyrda, 88, originally of the Miner's Mill Section of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 surrounded by family at the Mountainview Care Ctr, Scranton.  Eleanor was preceeded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary Buckla Starfursky, brother, Stephen, sisters, Jeanne Hollowach and Sonya Prestys. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Theodore, son, Mark and partner Andrea Dreyfus, daughter, Karen and husband Michael Wosniak, grandchildren, Mark Sovyrda and partner Tiffany Klotz and Faith Sovyrda and partner James Cribb, Jessica, Jennifer, Michael, Kyra, and Theodore John (TJ) Wosniak and g-granchild, Ava Wosniak, sisters, Janet Baigis, Ann and husband Joseph Schlasta, brother, John and wife Sandra Starfursky, brother-in-laws, Basil Hollowach, Michael Prestys, numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a Charter and Founding Member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre. Eleanor was an active member of the Church serving many fund raising and social events as well as a council officer. Eleanor was lifelong cafteria manager of Meyer's High School prior to her retirement. A Requiem Funeral Service will be held at 9 am on Tuesday, January 10th, at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E Main St, Wilkes-Barre, 18705, Friends and relatives may call for a Viewing Service in the Church from 5 to 7 pm and Parastas at 6:30 pm on Monday, January 9th and at 8:30 am until time of service Tuesday Morning.
