Elizabeth "Betsy" Vancosky, 64, of Plains, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, with her devoted husband, Frank, and family friend, Maggie Moiser, by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, Betsy maintained her positive spirit and determination, never giving up the fight and never losing her sense of humor.

Born on January 3, 1962, in West Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Betty Basar. Betsy was a graduate of Bishop O'Reilly High School and attended Lackawanna Junior College. She was employed by Axia Women's Health of Wilkes-Barre and had previously worked at Sunshine Market and Malacari Produce and Deli.

Betsy was a devoted wife to Frank and a loving "mom" to her cherished cat, Lexi. Her greatest wish was to spend her remaining days at home, surrounded by the comfort of her loving husband and Lexi.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; her sister, Sue Greenly and husband Duane; sister, Marylou Gobbler; brother, Mike Basar; sister-in-law, Linda Fettig and husband Leroy; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Mike Gobbler; mother-in-law, Mary Anne Vancosky; sister-in-law, Carol Vancosky; and her beloved dog, Quincy.

People were naturally drawn to Betsy because of her wonderful sense of humor and her gift for "collecting friends" along the way. Her warmth, resilience and kindness touched many lives.

Friends and family may call for visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at St. Nicholas Church, 226 Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., with private interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. Arrangements by the Yeosock Funeral Home, Plains.
