Elizabeth Wozniak, 94, of Harvey's Lake, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center in Scranton after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 20, 1930, in Larksville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Novak) Fedrow. Elizabeth graduated from Larksville High School in 1948 and, in 1956, married Joseph Wozniak. That same year, they moved to Newton, New Jersey, where she devoted herself to raising their three children.
While living in Newton, Elizabeth was an active member of the Newton Ladies Auxiliary and served faithfully on the church council at Elevation of the Holy Cross Church in Hackettstown. In 1991, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by returning to her native Northeastern Pennsylvania, where she became Jan integral member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church—the church where she had been baptized and married.
At St. John's, Elizabeth poured her heart into cooking and baking, lending her talents to bread and pierogi projects. She was ever-present at church bazaars, food festivals, and parish events, giving joyfully of her time and energy to the community she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, Sr., brothers Paul, John, Michael, Daniel, and William; and sisters Veronica, Mary, Anna, Kathryn, and Helen.
She is survived by her beloved children, Dr. Sandra Wozniak and her partner, Laura, of Cambridge, MA, Joseph Wozniak, Jr., of Harvey's Lake, with whom she resided, Very Reverend Father Eugene Wozniak and Matushka Antonia, of Howard, WI,
She is also survived by her loving sister Eva Turaj of Wilkes-Barre and brother Edward Fedrow of Harvey's Lake; her cherished grandchildren Alexandra Wozniak and her husband Nicholas Taylor of Weston, MA; Michaela Wozniak of Cambridge, MA; Elizabeth and Sophia Wozniak of Howard, WI; and great-grandchild Aurora. Numerous nieces and nephews also carry forward her memory and spirit.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 93 Zerby Avenue, Edwardsville, with V. Rev. Innocent Neal of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery, Pringle.
Friends and family may call for visitation on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main Street, Plains Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 93 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville, PA 18704.
