Erma Rose Centini Wysocki, 96, formerly of Helen Street, Plains Township, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Born in the Keystone section of Plains, she was the daughter of the late Raphaele and Antonia Mazzacchietti Centini. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School.
Erma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a keen fashion sense who excelled at cooking, particularly traditional Italian and Polish dishes. She had a passion for preparing home cooked meals for her family and loved to have everyone around the table.
She worked alongside her husband, Walter, opening Walter's Inn (now Plains Pub) where she was well known for her porketta sandwiches. After Walter's passing, she worked as a private chef for families in the area until she retired to North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, Ralph; brothers, Frank, Camillo, John and James Centini; and by her sisters Bertha Gross, Olive Boccetti, Clara Mascelli, Josephine Augustine and Faye Frankelli.
Surviving are her daughter, Annette Wysocki Knox and her husband, Rob, Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Eric Wysocki, Orlando, FL; Kristen Stewart and her husband, Michael, Nashville, TN; Joshua Wysocki, Portland, OR; Janelle Baldwin and her husband Matthew, Raleigh, NC; Jessica Wysocki, Kingston; Laura Fogleman and her husband Rob, Charlotte, NC; and Robbie Knox, Wake Forest, NC; great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Alexine Stewart; Knox, Rosie and Harry Baldwin; Knox and John Fogleman; Weston Knox; sister-in-law, Viola Fazzi Centini; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank Karen Tucker for the compassion she demonstrated as her loving caregiver for the past four years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 am in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, 18705. Friends and family are invited to attend the Mass and the viewing service beginning at 9 am until the time of services. Interment immediately following in the Polish National Cemetery, Swoyersville.
