Obituary

Eugene "Corky" Mikolaicik Sr., 90, of West Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at home surrounded by family.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1931, Eugene enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950.

He was member of the Wyoming Valley Men of Sacred Heart Society, participating in home enthronements and first Friday devotions.

He was a self-employed home contractor, retiring in 1993. A member of St. Faustina's Parrish, Nanticoke, and a devout Catholic; an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years; and always a devoted father.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Celia M. Krygier; brothers, Joseph, Theodore and Ronald; and sister, Pearl.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Jr., Mountain Top; daughters, Lynn Jeckell and husband, Wayne, The Villages, Fla.; Judith and Robert Myers, Lake Silkworth; Lucinda and William West, West Nanticoke; granddaughter, Alysha Emelett, Texas; grandson, Lucas West, West Nanticoke; and sister, Dolores Wytoshek and her husband, Albert, Nanticoke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Brian Van Fossen at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Faustina church, Nanticoke.

Interment will follow in St. Joesph's Cemetery, Naticoke.
