Obituary

Evelyn Barbara Kozmiski, 96, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at Highland Park Senior Living, where she had resided for the past eight years. Born in Wilkes-Barre Township, Evelyn previously lived in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mary Hreno.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Kostick" Kozmiski; her brother, John Hreno; and her sister, Marie Zaya.

A lifelong faithful member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Evelyn served as assistant choir director for 40 years, dedicating her love of music to her faith and community. Married on September 7, 1955, at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre, she and Stanley shared a deep connection rooted in their traditions. Evelyn found joy in singing her favorite songs and Russian Orthodox hymns, a passion that continued until her final days

Evelyn is survived by her two sons: Stanley Kozmiski and his wife, Martha, of Escondido, California, along with their children, Stacy and Paul; and Michael Kozmiski and his wife, Terri, of Brighton, Massachusetts, and their children, Therese and Michael Jr. Evelyn shared a special bond with her niece, Dianne Stilp, who lovingly assisted her during her years at Highland Park.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2025 from Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E Main St, Wilkes-Barre, 18705. Friends and family may call for visitation at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S Main St, Plains, 18705 on Sunday, January 12, from 2 to 4 p,m. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Evelyn will be remembered for her unwavering faith, devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to others through her voice and spirit
