Obituary

Evelyn Agaphia Suhoski, 92, of Bear Creek Township, passed away on Wednesday June 5, 2024. Born on February 20, 1932, in a small village named Butla in "old country" Austria Galicia, presently known as Britla Ukraine. She embarked on her maiden voyage as a 15 month old toddler departing Eastern Europe, with her parents, the late Stephen and Mary Sapp, and arrived in the United States on June 10, 1933. Once she became school age, she attended Oliver School, however as an immigrant she became self conscious of her given name Agaphia, and with the help of her sister, renamed herself Evelyn. Later she went on to work at Dana Perfumes, in Mountain Top, for over 40 years.

Evelyn had an extremely strong faith and was a devoted patron of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Routinely she attended lectures, vespers, and liturgies. Her dedication to the church often included offering rides to fellow parishioners who were unable to drive but wanted to attend the services.

Evelyn's true passion was playing a role in raising her grandchildren, and then great-grandchildren. The list of their weekend adventures was very long. Including things like a trip to NYC, the beach, amusement parks, movies, summer camp,  roller skating rinks, the mall, and even Atlantic City. She did it all and was great at it.

She was preceded in death by her siblings George Sapp, John Sapp Jr., Stephen Sapp, Eva Fischer, Mary Adamitis, Justine Gulczynski, and Esther Dancheck.

She leaves behind daughter, Patricia Suhoski; son Francis and Donna Suhoski; grandchildren Megan and Keith Davis; Amanda Suhoski and Jacob Searfoss; Erin Suhoski and Eric Smith. Great grandchildren Emma Suhoski, Erik Smith, and Nieves Davis; sister in-law Anna Sapp; and several nieces and nephews.
