Evelyn Hydock Swetts, of Rice Avenue, Edwardsville, passed away peacefully in her
home on Friday, April 18, 2025

Born on August 19, 1941 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late
George Hydock and Eva (Kosko) Hydock. She was a 1958 graduate of Edwardsville
High School, where she was a Majorette in the High School Band. She had many jobs
over the years to include the Lily Tulip Cup Factory in Hazlet, New Jersey, Alter
Manufacturing Company, Kingston, PA, Gent-J Manufacturing, Plymouth, PA as a
seamstress, Hills Department Store, Edwardsville, Nemetz Bakery, Swoyersville, and in
recent years, Home Sweet Home Personal Care, Kingston, PA. She was an active
member at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Edwardsville for over 70 years and
served on the church council for 30 years. She was a member of the Lady's Aid Society
and the Mother's and Daughter's Club. Evelyn was very involved with her church, most
notably the Annual Ethnic Food Festival held in August of each year, bread and pierogi
projects, dinners for special events and graduations. She was a woman of great faith
and always prayed many times throughout the day for the health and success of her
family. She spent much of her life as a caregiver, always helping those in need, never
asking for anything in return. She epitomized the term "selfless service." She truly was
an amazing mother to all, filled with love and gratitude. Evelyn and her close friends met
for over 25 years each Friday night to play cards, each taking turns hosting one another.
Over the years, Evelyn traveled to New Jersey to visit her sisters, Betty and Rita, and
made a few trips to Florida to see her brother, George. She never missed any of her
three son's football games or baseball games. Evelyn was a die-hard New York
Yankees fan and enjoyed watching NFL and college football, especially the New York
Jets and Penn State Nittany Lions. Our mother could be counted on at any time of day
or night for anything, especially if you needed someone to vent to or if you needed
words of encouragement. Evelyn was very proud to be a grandmother to Aubri Alaina.
She loved spending time with her, especially coloring and making pierogis for her at
lunch. Aubri was and always will be the "apple of her eye." Her family finds comfort
knowing that she was at peace during her passing.

Surviving are her brother George, Summerfield, FL, sons Edward and William, Harvey's
Lake, PA, John, wife Jacki, and granddaughter, Aubri Alaina, in Harding, PA. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her sisters
Elizabeth Pavlovich and Rita Natishan.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pringle. Arrangements by Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main Street, Plains.
