Jean Stackalis Edwards, of Courtdale, passed away surrounded by her loving husband on Monday, March 2, 2026, in the family home.
Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Stackalis and Albina Tomulinas Stackalis, both children of Lithuanian immigrants.
Jean was blessed with many talents, especially woodworking and crafting. She lovingly shared her creations with nieces and nephews throughout the years. She also had a deep appreciation for family history and spent many hours documenting and discussing her heritage. At family gatherings, Jean was often the one behind the camera, believing that preserving memories was one of life's greatest gifts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Maureen Stackalis, and brothers-in-law, Ted Goulstone and Joseph Hunt, who were dear to her.
Surviving is her loving husband of 55 years, Joe Edwards. Their love story began at Luzerne High School and remained strong and evident through her final days. Jean would often smile brightly and say, "I love you, Joe! Love you, love you, love you!" Together they enjoyed camping, dancing, and countless adventures shared with cherished friends.
She is also survived by her daughter, Rebecca Edwards Russick and husband Gregory Russick; granddaughter Elizabeth Ruth Russick; her siblings Jack Stackalis and Bernadette Stackalis; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Her life made a difference that will not be forgotten among those who loved her.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main Street, Plains.
