Joan M. Sheraski passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Nanticoke.

Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Stanko Balut. Joan was the longtime owner of Pizza II in Plains, proudly running the business for over twenty-five years. She was also a former member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Plains. Together with her husband Charlie, she enjoyed bus trips to New York City and Atlantic City, as well as peaceful walks in nature.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her infant daughter, Joanne; her sisters, Irene Kalinowski and Marian Brzycki; and her son-in-law, Ernest Burke.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Hall and husband Michael, and Diane Burke and her companion, Charles Reisser. Joan is also survived by her beloved grandsons: Michael, Eric, Adam, Jared, Jason (and wife Stephanie), and Cory; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished feline companion, Callie.

In keeping with Joan's wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Joanie's life will be held at a future date.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
