Beloved son, brother, and friend, Joseph Thomas (JT) Purta has left a large void in all our lives when he passed away suddenly at home at the tender age of 37 on January 14, 2022, where he resided with Cierra Phillips, his fiancé, in Plymouth, PA. JT was known for his enormous heart and infectious smile.  If you needed him, he was there for you.

JT was born August 24, 1984, in Wilkes-Barre, PA and grew up in and around Luzerne County. He attended Wyoming Valley West High School, Kingston PA and LCCC College, Nanticoke PA. He was a Mason at the King David Lodge 763 in Kingston. He is survived by his mother, Marie Purta, brother Corey Purta, and sister Genna-Marie (Jade) Purta, along with half-brother Seth Purta, and half-sisters, Marra and Joy Purta. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Purta, grandparents Donald (Chick) Francis Nealon, Sr., Elizabeth Jones Edwards, and Joseph and Alberta Purta.

JT's pride was in his red Harley Sporters, where he was happiest, riding freely in the sun throughout the countryside or near any body of water while holding a fishing pole. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage which was easy to see by his many tattoos. He attributed his love of his Irish heritage to his Pop Pop, Donald. JT was super intelligent and easily learned new traits, recently becoming an electrician's apprentice under the supervision of his half-brother Seth. He was looking forward to getting his electrical license.
