Joseph Welgos

Joseph Welgos, 87, of Plains Township, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, and his devoted son, Joseph. Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, John, and sisters, Natalie, Mary, and Delores.

A graduate of Plains High School, Joseph proudly served in the United States Army. After his military service, he moved to Trenton, New Jersey, where he built a respected career as a master machinist at Princeton University. Upon retirement, he returned to his roots in the Wyoming Valley, where he found joy in fishing, hunting, and attending classic car shows.

Joseph will be remembered as a steady, kind-hearted man with a quiet strength and a generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main Street, Plains. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 11:15 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
