Mary Elaine Iorio's Obituary
Mary Elaine Iorio, 90, of the Hudson section of Plains Township, passed peacefully on
Friday, November 4, 2022, while in the care of Allied Services Meade Street facility, Wilkes-
Barre.
Born on January 30, 1932, in Hudson, she was a daughter of the late John and Eva Serniak
Letinski.
Mary grew up in Hudson and graduated from Plains Memorial High School, class of
1949.
After graduation, Mary was employed in the local garment industry and later by the food
service department of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, retiring in 2001 as the Manager of
the cafeteria at the James M. Coughlin High School. Mary was active in Ss. Peter and Paul
Parish, Plains, volunteering with the Quilting group. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting,
reading and doing her Sudoku puzzles.
On October 24, 1953, Mary married Frank J. Iorio of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Together they raised
two children, Mark D. Iorio of Plains and Dawn Marie Dahn (David) of Virginia.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Eva Letinski, sister Joan Drevenik,
husband Frank and baby daughter Carol Ann.
Surviving are her son, Mark, daughter Dawn, and numerous nieces and nephews including
Greggory Drevenik, Hudson, who helped care for Mary over the past few years and Denise Del
Nodal, Daytona Beach, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Saints Peter and Paul Church will begin at 10:00 AM on
Friday, November 11, 2022. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at
the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the S.P.C.A. of Luzerne County, 524

Road, Plains, PA, 18705.
