Mary LaMooney, 86, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Chisowski Morykon and graduated from Coughlin High School.  Mary was employed in the electronics assembly trade in Wilkes-Barre and in the retail trade for Hills and Ames department stores.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish and the former Holy Rosary Church.

Mary was an animal lover who cared for both her own pets as well as looking out for the welfare of neighborhood strays.  She also enjoyed attending her grandsons' school concerts and sporting events, watching football and game shows and spending time with her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed long rides with her late husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Michael LaMooney Jr., in 2021; sisters Anna Morik, Helen Sluzar, Catherine Stchur, Nellie Kostelaba and Rozelle Smith; and brothers Michael Morik, John Morriken and Joseph Morika.

Mary is survived by her son, Daryl Lamonet and his wife Heather Kolanich, Bear Creek; her daughter Michelle Libus and her husband Christopher, Larksville; her grandsons, Joseph and Jacob Libus; brother, Peter Morika, Wilkes-Barre; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Friday, September 29th, from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 South Main St., Plains Twp., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. John Terry officiating. Interment will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 28th at the funeral home.
