Mildred A. Cannon (nee Leonard) touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love. On Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 89, Mildred peacefully departed from this world, surrounded by her cherished family at Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on December 29, 1934, in Hazleton, PA, Mildred was the daughter of the late Anthony Leonard and the late Mildred Leonard (nee Avillion). Throughout her life, Mildred epitomized strength and resilience, qualities that guided her through both joyous and challenging times. She is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Thomas C. Cannon, and her son, Barry A. Cannon, who preceded her in death.

Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her surviving loved ones. She is fondly remembered by her daughter, Dawn Cannon-Musick, and her son, Thomas J. Cannon, alongside his wife, Lindsey. Mildred's presence will continue to be felt through the lives of her grandchildren; Carly, Nikki, Neil, and Sheena, as well as her three great-grandchildren. Additionally, Mildred's compassionate spirit touched the hearts of her loving neighbors, Joe and Connie, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Not to be forgotten is her loyal feline companion, Rusty, who provided her with endless comfort and companionship.

Professionally, Mildred pursued her passion for caregiving and obtained her bachelor's degree as a Registered Nurse from Geisinger Wyoming Valley School of Nursing in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Her dedication and compassion shone brightly during her tenure as a home health RN in the surrounding community, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Mildred found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She delighted in entertaining loved ones, showcasing her culinary talents by cooking delicious meals, tending to her garden with care, and creating beautiful works of art through her crocheting skills. Mildred's deep-seated affection for animals was evident throughout her life, embodying a lifelong commitment to the well-being of creatures great and small.

As Mildred's earthly journey comes to a close, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be physically present, the love, laughter, and kindness she shared will continue to resonate within the hearts of family and friends for generations to come.

In accordance with her wishes, private funeral services will be held to honor Mildred's life and legacy. As we bid farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend, may we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear, knowing that Mildred's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our lives.
