Obituary

Peter Welgus Jr. passed away suddenly at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on May 8, 2024. Born on June 24, 1950, to Peter John Welgus and Dorothy Welgus (Kortis), he was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre and an esteemed member of the community. Pete dedicated 44 years of his life as the Operations Manager at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and the institution he served with dedication and distinction.

Beyond his professional achievements, Pete's life was a tapestry of love and joy. An
avid golfer and fly fisherman, he found solace and excitement in the great outdoors
and his grandchildren. Pete also had a passion for hunting, strumming his guitar,
and exploring the world through travel. However, it was his infectious smile and
boundless kindness that truly endeared him to all who knew him.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife Joan Welgus (LeVan), his children Lisa Mooney
(husband Ryan), JP Welgus (wife Kristin Beauchamp), Tatum Neiderhiser, and his
grandchildren Rebecca Shaver, Allison, and Megan Novak, Tyler Mooney, Audrey
Welgus, Gavin Stevens, Ethan Evanitis, Graycie Hamburger, and Liam Siley. He is
also survived by his brother David Welgus (wife Diane) and nieces Melanie Welgus
and Amy Rubino (Welgus).

He was preceded in death by his first wife Larreen Welgus (Lowe), his parents Peter
and Dorothy Welgus, and his daughter Caitlin Neiderhiser.
