Rita Ann Katulka, 77, passed into eternal rest at her home in Plains, Pa on Monday, January 31, 2022. Rita was born Nov 1, 1944 in Plains to the late Nicholas and Mary Catherine Dobish Katulka. She attended local schools and graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Plains, in 1962. Rita furthered her education at the Wilkes-Barre Business College where she completed her business degree. Following the completion of her education she took at job at the Miner's Bank, Wilkes-Barre. Her work ethic, intellect and business focus allowed her to rise through ranks. She ultimately attained the position of Vice President at United Penn Bank, Wilkes-Barre, which was the position she held upon her retirement. Rita was dedicated to her family and cared for her mother and sister, Marlene, after her retirement. She was also an active and devout member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. She worked for many years assisting with Church business and financing. She also worked with the Church group on numerous food fundraisers, making pierogi, piggies and other local favorite dishes. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brother Robert Katulka and sister Marlene Katulka. She is survived by her brother Jerome Katulka and his wife Bernadette, a niece and nephews. A Divine Liturgy with Requiem Services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, in SS.Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 635 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Father Nestor Iwasiw Officiating. Friends and family may call for a Monday morning visitation at the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S Main St, Plains from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment immediately following in the Parish Cemetery, Plains . Anyone who will be attending the viewing and/or mass is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Memorial donation in Rita's name may be made to Ss Peter and Paul UC Church.
