Obituary

Rosilla “Ro” Collyer, 78, of northeastern Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, surrounded by her children and her beloved cat. As the storm clouds gathered and the rain began to fall, Ro took her final breath and began her journey to the spirit in the sky.

Born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, on May 11, Ro was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Collyer; her son, David Alan Davis; her parents; and her brother. She was the first of eight sisters to be reunited with their parents and brother.

It is often said that life is not about the dates, but about the dash in between. Ro and Ron chose to make their dash an adventure.

In 1986, Ro left Pennsylvania for the wide-open spaces of the West. She began her Western journey in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and later embraced the freedom of RV living, traveling full-time for five years. Her adventures took her to Idaho and eventually to St. George, Utah, where she settled and made a home.

In the final year of her life, Ro returned to her hometown in northeastern Pennsylvania to be closer to her children and establish a new home surrounded by family.

Ro is survived by her children, Kerrie Lyn Simms and her spouse, Gregory; John Davis; and Jessica Carey and her husband, John. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Simms, Matthew Simms, Kimber Simms, and Zachary Simms; and her great-grandchildren, Arabella Simms, Anderson Simms, and Lennon Rose Simms.

Ro will be remembered for the life she lived, the places she traveled, the adventures she embraced, and, most importantly, the love she shared with her family. Ro was someone who was curious about everything smd tried her hand at just about anything.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the dash she lived remains in the hearts and memories of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

She has gone home now—to those who went before her, to a place beyond the clouds, and to whatever beautiful skies await her.

A backyard memorial service celebrating Ro and Ron’s life will be held at the home of her daughter, Jessica, on September 20, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather together, share memories, view quilts and celebrate a life well lived.

In keeping with Ro and Ron’s love of learning and books, the family kindly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a local library or by donating a book to a Little Free Library in their memory. Books intended for Little Free Libraries will also be gratefully accepted at the memorial service and distributed in Ro and Ron’s memory.
