Wapwallopen

Obituary

Shirley L Shreve, 84, a resident of Wapwallopen, was welcomed in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains. Shirley was born in Chambersburg, daughter of the late James and Hazel Imes. When Hazel later passed during childbirth, James remarried the late Veda Seville, who became a mother to Shirley. Shirley attended the Scotland School for Veterans' children, where she made lifelong friends and had many fond memories.  Shirley retired from Valley Crest Nursing home in 1995 where she worked in many different positions for over 20 years.  In retirement, Shirley quickly learned she missed being around others, so spent a few days a week working at the Boulevard Bakery. When not working, Shirley enjoyed shopping, baking, cooking, watching Hallmark movies and spending time with those who knew her as Gigi.  In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Robert L. Shreve, married for 57 years; as well as, her brothers George, Wayne, Russell, and son-in-law, Glen Burridge.

Shirley preferred keeping in touch the old fashioned way. For those in the long list of surviving family members and friends, a bright spot was the personal cards received during the occasions that never slipped Shirley's memory.  This includes her children; Robin Burridge, Wapwallopen; Christine Shorts, Wilkes-Barre; David Dennis, Hazleton; Kelly Halchak and her husband, Anthony, Wapwallopen; Rebekah Shreve and her companion, Gerald Williams, Plymouth; Robert Shreve and his companion, Shari Nelson, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Laura Parker and her husband, Matt; the Rev. Glen Burridge Jr. and his wife, Angela; William Burridge and his companion, Michelle Hogrelius; Jessica Ogin; Sarah Shorts and her fiancé Tony Pantano; Jason Shorts and his companion, Cheryl Lucas; Kayla Sakowski; Melissa Bellomo and her husband, Mario; Anthony Halchak Jr. and his wife Beth; Charlie Halchak and his fiancée, Kim Mascelli; Coty and Megan Knapp; Kylie, Robbie and Micah Shreve; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Madison Parker, Seth, McKenzie, Willy Burridge; Emma Ogin; Emily, Matthew, Jordyn, Ashley and Jaelyn Shorts; Saydie Pantano; Charlie, Eve and Zoe Halchak; Adilia Knapp; great-great-grandson, Wesley; brothers Melvin and Richard Imes; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains.
