Theodore Sovyrda, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, February 7, 2023 at Mountain View Care & Rehab center where he had been a resident. Born in Wilkes-Barre,Pa, he was the youngest of 9 children, son of the late Harry and Mary Kondratick Sovyrda. He graduated Coughlin High School (Class of 1953). He served in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1963. He was a charter & founding member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre. He was very active in parish life and held many positions in the church.
He was employed by Stull Brothers in Kingston and retired from the Ertley Dealerships, where he was the parts manager. Post retirement he was employed by the Mohegan Sun Arena.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He enjoyed polka dancing,traveling, and spending time with his family. Ted will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 66 years, Eleanor. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John and wife Julia, Harry and wife Cecilia, Peter, Archpriest Vladimir; sisters Theresa and husband Micheal Sterba, Helen and husband Calvin Krom, Mary and husband William Yankovich, and Ann Sovyrda.
Ted is survived by his son Mark and partner Andrea, daughter Karen Wozniak and husband Mike. His grandchildren Mark Sovyrda and partner Tiffany, Faith and partner James; Jessica, Jennifer, Michael, Kyra and Theodore John (TJ) Wozniak; and great-granddaughter Ava Wozniak and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones Friday, February 10th, from 5 to 7 pm at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 401 E. Main St. Wilkes-Barre. Parastas service by Father Innocent Neal will be held at 6:30 pm. A Requiem Funeral Service will be held 9 am Saturday morning, Febuary 10, at Holy Trinity Church, 401 E Main St, Wilkes-Barre. Interment immediately following at Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. The family is requesting no flowers be sent. Arrangements by the Yeosock Funeral Home, Plains, PA.
