Wayne K. Waters, 75, of Plains Twp., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains, Twp.

Born February 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Carroll K. Waters and Alice T. Savage Waters and was a graduate of Coughlin High School.  He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving on the U.S.S. Glover during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as a lead pressman for Suburban Publishers and later by the Times Leader until his retirement.

He was a loving husband, married 41 years to the love of his life, Nancy (Diehl) Waters, who passed away on February 13, 2020.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He enjoyed watching sports and cheering for his favorite teams, the New York Giants, Los Angeles Lakers, Penn State Nittany Lions, L.A. Dodgers and Boston Red Sox.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers Allen J. Waters and Carl K. Waters, son-in-law John Waskowsky, and nephews, Walter J. Charney III and Joseph L. Charney.  He is survived and will be greatly missed by his son and best friend, Michael Willis, with whom he resided; daughters, Cynthia Waskowsky, Marietta, GA; Mary Jayne Leo and husband, Donald, Shavertown; sisters, Laverne Charney and husband, Walter, West Wyoming; and Carol Ann McCabe and husband, Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr Paul Witt and his staff and to the staff at the VA Medical Center for the excellent care and compassion given to Wayne in his time of need.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main Street, Plains Twp., with Father Michael Kloton officiating.  Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Hanover Twp with Navy Military Honors.
